Not many people stop to think what difference it makes to snack on some crunchy carrots or to cook them for lunch.
It actually makes a great difference though, raw food is way better for your body than cooked food. Fruits, vegetables, and nuts are better off far from the pans. They are not like meats, which when cooked become more probable to protect from certain diseases.
Conversely, when raw foods are cooked they loose the health boosting nutrients they contain. Raw foods are so good for the body that “eating a diet of raw foods can reverse or stop the advance of many chronic diseases, including heart disease and cancer.”
Genetically modified foods are cheaper than organic foods, this is what keeps people from buying organic foods. However, you might end up paying a higher price consuming genetically modified foods. Possible risks of genetically modified foods:
- contain hazardous genes
- has caused at least 37 deaths
- reactions in different people are unexpected
- immune problems
- accelerated aging
- changes in major organs and the gastrointestinal system
Genetically modified foods may even contain pesticides that will kill bugs; these foods may not kill you instantly but will kill you slowly. Next time you’re at the supermarket remember that those organic strawberries that costs double as the standard strawberries may avoid many risks and spare your life!

Many people do not know how to read a nutrition facts table or simply choose not to read it. They simply go around picking up whatever looks tasty.
This is a major mistake; Something as simple as choosing another similar product with better nutritional content can make a great difference in your health.
Below are two similar greek strained yogurt products: Fage & Chobani
Let’s compare their nutrition facts.
Credit: coheso.com (Fage Nutrition Facts)
Credit: namastemari.com (Chobani Nutrition Facts)
As you can see, these two healthy products have very similar nutritional values; However, one is healthier than the other one. The serving size for the Chobani yogurt is 6 oz and 5.3 oz for the Fage yogurt, remember to take this into account when comparing them. To compare apples to apples you can divide each amount of the value being compared by the serving size of ounces, this way you obtain the amount per oz. Now you can see which one has more of the good stuff (i.e. protein & vitamins) and less of the bad stuff (sodium & sugar) per oz.
If you conclude that Fage is the healthier choice, you are right!
Slightly healthier, but it goes a long way.
